Hello! My name is Cung Lian Sang, who is a father and a husband. I’m currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Institute for Cognition and Robotics (CoR-Lab), Bielefeld University, Bielefeld, Germany. I originally came from Myanmar, where I was born in Falam and raised in Hakha, Chin State until I went to the Mandalay Technological University (MTU) in Mandalay.
I received my Dr.-Ing. degree from Bielefeld University, Germany under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Rückert in 2022. My doctoral dissertation “Bidirectional UWB Localization with Rigorous Sectoral Evaluations” was conducted and completed at Cognitronics and Sensor Systems research group, CITEC. I also hold an M.Sc. degree in Radar and Radio Technology from MPEI, Russian Federation, supervised by Prof. Gubonin (профессор НИУ Николай С. Губонин). My academic journey began with a B.E. degree in Electronic Engineering from MTU, Myanmar in 2006, followed by an M.E. degree supervised by Dr. Yin Mon Myint in the same field in 2008.
My main research interest area lies in the intersection of wireless communications, indoor localization, machine learning, and embedded systems. In particular, I’m currently interested in and working on the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) localization systems as well as applied machine learning in wireless networks at the edge, robotics, and tactile internet.
